What's new at PaperWeek!
Keynote Speakers
PaperWeek will present an extensive program featuring top experts in several fields and sessions co-organized with key industry leaders:
  • John D. Williams, President & CEO of Domtar, will give the official kick-off to PaperWeek with a keynote presentation on the state of the industry and its future and share Domtar's vision on the industry's sustainability.

  • James Lopez, President & CEO of Tembec, will keynote on Wednesday morning and present Tembec's approach to face the challenges and opportunities tied to the transformation of the industry and the recent progress we have made. Mr. Lopez will be followed by Kurt Schafer, VP Fiber with RISI, who will give a world outlook on the pulp and paper market trends and forecasts.

  • Alain Lemaire, President & CEO of Cascades, will discuss Cascades' vision and its unique approach to tackle the industry's markets and develop a successful sustainable development strategy. Frédéric Bouchard, Managing Director, Forest, Paper & Packaging Practice at PricewaterhouseCooper will follow with a financial analysis and how major projects around the world get financed.

  • Tuesday's luncheon will feature keynote presentations by Pierre Lapointe, President & CEO of FPInnovations, on his vision of the strategy and model for the success of tomorrow's Innovation and Theo van de Ven, Director of the FIBRE Network and professor at McGill University on the role of the Canadian FIBRE Network to support the renewal and training of a specialized workforce for the industry.

  • Wednesday's Luncheon will feature a keynote presentation from FPAC's CEO, David Lindsay, and the newly released industry-lead Vision 2020, and will be followed by Steven Kotler, award-winning science writer and author of the book "Abundance - The Future is Better than you Think", which has generated tremendous reactions around the business world and offers an optimistic and innovative take on the future.

Tomorrow's Engineering:
This session will feature presentations from top engineering firms - L&T, KSH and Amec who will provide an overview of the most recent engineering advancements around the world and give their takes on where they see engineering going in the future, specifically with regards to the pulp/paper & forest industries.

Innovative Technologies and Advancements in Equipment:

Will showcase three of the major equipment suppliers - Andritz, Metso and Voith who will present their innovative technologies & tool kits and their implementations with regards to pulp & paper equipment, and how they see new technology evolving in the coming years.

Major Power Suppliers' Programs and Incentives:
With three major Canadian players - BC Hydro, Ontario Hydro & Hydro-Québec taking centre stage, this session will give decision makers and the industry's key players the most recent information on the programs, developments and incentives from each of these Energy suppliers in their respective territories.

Industry Demographics Challenges:
With presentations from Jim Farrell, Forest Sector Consultant, this session will focus on the timely topic of demographics and provide the audience with options and opportunities for the renewal of the industry's workforce.
